Progress Report 1: Arisia 2021

The one constant in life is change. Humans are amazingly adaptable. Arisia is amazingly adaptable. With the global pandemic of COVID-19, Arisia will continue to adapt.

Yes, Arisia 2021 is happening. The Arisia convention chair team and division heads are closely monitoring what the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) are recommending regarding best practices to prevent the spread of C-19, including social distancing, washing hands and wearing masks to help safe-guard ourselves and our community. We have implemented remote meetings for division heads and at the Arisia corporate level with monthly corporate meetings.

While we all adjust to the "new normal", plans for Arisia 2021 continue. In lieu of a successful Arisia 2021 convention chair bid, the Arisia corporate executive board along with advisors from cons past, are chairing Arisia 2021. Arisia 2021 division heads are meeting regularly, and planning to bring you the best convention we can.

And although we can’t tell you exactly what that convention will look like yet, we can get excited to introduce you to and celebrate our Guests of Honor!

Our writer guest of honor won a Hugo award in 2018 for her novelette, The Secret Life of Bots, and her debut science-fiction trilogy, the Finder Chronicles, is red-hot. Our artist guest of honor is a comic book illustrator also well-known for his art in Magic: the Gathering (and is not to be confused with the Marvel comic book character of the same name). Our fan guest of honor is an editor and lexicographer who is active in public discussions on social justice and geek culture.

Please join us in welcoming our Arisia 2021 guests of honor:

We look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks and months.
